Watford are looking forward to make amends for the mistakes from the last season, making sure they don’t have to finish at a lowly position like the previous term. The Hornets ended the campaign on the 17th position in the Premier League, saving their season right on the brink of elimination from the top tier.
This time though, Watford are looking forward to getting a number of players into the team for the next term to strengthen it and get some positive results under the belt. Their new manager, Marco Silva, is an experienced customer in the Premier League, having managed Hull City in the previous season, and is eyeing some players who can help the team to turn the table in the next term.
The Spaniard has been reportedly looking to bring in the English midfielder Aaron Lennon, who is currently playing for fellow Premier League side Everton and has been one of the dependable figures for a number of clubs in the top tier including Tottenham Hotspur. The experienced campaigner has got considerable amount of experience at his disposal, which is supposed to help the Hornets in their pursuit of survival in the next term as well.
Lennon has spent a chunk of his career at White Hart Lane, featuring in 364 matches for the Spurs before moving to Goodison Park. A star for the North London club, he has somewhat been out of touch in the last few years and has also endured some stress related disorders, which made him miss a chunk of the last season.
The Merseyside club has brought in a number of new players into the team in order to revamp it for the next term, as Lennon has fallen down the pecking order and is expected to play more often as a substitute rather than a first team player. The Hornets, however, might use his vast experience in the next season if they can get a hand on him, as they are looking to make a loan bid for him and help them achieve some good results.
The 30-year-old has been one of the top class wingers in the past years for both England and his club Tottenham Hotspur, which made him attract interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League. His fitness and stress related issue has given him a problematic time in the recent past, but he is now recovering from them and has also featured for his current club Everton in a friendly against FC Twente in their pre-season tour, scoring a goal in it as well.
