Leicester City’s Demarai Gray, who had arrived at the club as a young sensation last summer is expected to part ways with the Foxes just after a season owing to lack of first team chances at the King Power Stadium. And Bournemouth has emerged as a shocking side who could land the 21-year-old as.
Reports have predicted the Cherries to sign the English youngster with Everton second on the list among his possible destinations. The Cherries have done brilliantly to not only survive the season but also to finish in the top half ahead of established and affluent sides like West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Stoke City.
Eddie Howe has been a tremendous figure for the club who has taken them to new heights and commands a big respect from most big clubs and players, examples being Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere coming on loan to Vitality Stadium last summer followed by Chelsea’s Nathan Ake even cementing his deal this summer. It won’t be a big problem for the club to lure Gray for sure as Howe could give him the thing he desperately needs ahead of a World Cup year, regular chances.
Young players like Mings, Baily Cargill, Lewis Cook, Ryan Fraser and many more have been seen playing against top sides under Howe and Gray would want to do the same. The versatile attacking midfielder could manage just nine starts last season scoring once and assisting thrice in the process.
With reports claiming that the player has already had talks with the club, he is most likely to leave. He was bought for a mere £3.5 million from Championship side Birmingham City last January with many touting him as the next big thing in English football.
And he didn’t fail miserably as we saw some flashes of his magic against Manchester United and Derby County last season but the poor form of Leicester had left them with little to experiment. However, his individual attributes did manage to get the attention of national scouts.
The left winger, who was used 23 times from the bench last season and completed only two games in the league, was one of England’s main players in the Euro Under 21 Championships, scoring twice and assisting once in four games before England lost to Germany on penalties.
Leicester knows his quality and demand in the market and as per reports have been controversially priced him in the region of £22 million.
