Arsenal, under the stewardship of Arsene Wenger, have been looking very serious this summer with respect to their transfer activities. Having already signed two world class players in the form of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, the Gunners are keen to beef up their attacking armoury and thus, they are in pursuit of luring AS Monaco’s blossoming youngster, Thomas Lemar, to the Emirates Stadium.
The assets of the French champions have been heavily targeted by the big clubs across the continent and they have been already forced to sell commendable players like Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Further, their sensational striker in the shape of Kylian Mbappe is constantly on the radar of Manchester City and Real Madrid, and it goes without saying that a world-record transfer fee might actually force them to strike him off their books.
Considering the obvious that they would need to keep performing to their utmost potential and meet their high yardsticks in the upcoming season, they would need some of their star players and thus, they are apparently reluctant to sell Lemar to the North London outfit. In fact, they have already rejected Wenger’s £44.7million bid, as reported by the Metro and in a scenario like this, it is arguably about time for the FA Cup champions to look for alternative resorts.
Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne could meticulously fit the bill owing to the fact that he has thrived on the left wing for his current employers, particularly in the last couple of seasons. The 26-year-old is a dominating package offensive wise and creates handful amount of goal scoring opportunities for himself as well as for his teammates. He is swift, dictates the tempo of the game up front and his fluidic movements leave the oppositions in complete disarray.
Wenger prefers nimble footed players who are creative and Insigne belongs to the aforesaid breed of seasoned campaigners. He passes the ball really well, likes to test the oppositions’ goalkeepers from the distance and likes to cut inside and churn something out. Besides, he holds onto the ball well and no wonder he is one of the fan favourites for the Stadio San Paolo based outfit.
The Italian international banged 18 goals and also chiselled 9 assists to his name in 37 appearances in Serie A. The thirteen-time English top flight champions were linked with the attacker last season and if Wenger’s interest to sign Lemar fails due to the unwillingness of Monaco, Insigne could undoubtedly be a blockbuster signing for his club.
