Barcelona have made a good start to the season having won both their matches in their pre-season tour of the USA against heavyweights like Manchester United and Real Madrid. However, not everything is looking good in the Catalan camp as they might be on the verge of losing one of their biggest stars in the team in the form of the Brazilian superstar Neymar.
The Selecaos’ skipper is not happy with the way things are going at Nou Camp and might make a move out of his current club, his probable destination being the Parc des Princes. As per sources, the former Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain are readying a sensational coup to bring the mercurial forward into their team for the next term from Barcelona.
With the situation being quite complicated regarding the future of the Brazilian Olympic Gold Medalist, the Blaugrana are eyeing a potential replacement for Neymar for the next season. In the long list of players who might be considered to fill in the boots in case the influential forward makes his way out of Nou Camp in the summer transfer window, the name right on the top is that of the French sharp shooter Antoine Griezmann.
The player has been one of the best forwards in the current situation, who has been playing for the arch rivals of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid. The Frenchman, who is in gallant form over the last few seasons, has been playing a very crucial role in keeping his team in the running to become one of the best in Spain as well as Europe.
It was largely due to his sensational form that Atletico Madrid made it into the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League in the last term, eventually bowing out to the defending Champions and derby rivals Real Madrid.
Griezmann made it into the top three at last year’s FIFA Player of the Year awards, losing out to Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the Balon d’Or for the year 2016. The French forward has been one of the most dangerous marksmen in the recent times, scoring 16 goals in the last term to finish as the highest scorer for his team in the Spanish La Liga, powering them to a third place finish in the league table.
It goes without saying that Neymar’s departure will add to the recent disappointments faced by the Catalan giants, but they can compensate it to the full with the inclusion of a player having the class of the mercurial French forward in the summer.
