Sunderland are looking to make amends for the mistakes they made in the last season that saw them drop down to the Championship. The Black Cats are looking forward to a major revamp to their side and are looking to bring in a few players who can help them win the Championship in the next term and head back into the Premier League once again.
The Wearside club have got one of the most experienced coaches in the form of Simon Grayson, who has managed a number of clubs in the Championship since the inception of his coaching career. Now with him at the helm, the Black Cats are quite confident that they can be able to land a number of young players who have the talent to be the stars of the future and help the club achieve new heights.
One such player, Jordan Hugill, who played in the last term under the coaching of Grayson for the Championship side Preston North End, might be on his way to join Sunderland in the summer transfer window. The striker has been eyed by the new manager of the Black Cats, who is well aware of his strengths and can use him well in the forthcoming season to spearhead the attack of his team.
The 25-year-old forward had a good run of form in the last term, which impressed the current Sunderland coach very much, as he is willing to get the youngster in his present club and sharpen his forward line for the next term. Hugill, to show for his efforts, got 13 goals under his belt in the last term and has been considered to be one of the most highly regarded players in the Championship in the current situation.
Sunderland, who have already got a striker in the form of James Vaughan for the new season, are looking forward to adding to their firepower for the next season and are poised to bid for the 25-year-old striker. However, there has been no bid from the Black Cats so far in pursuit of Hugill in the summer transfer window.
A number of clubs from the Championship including the likes of Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also in line to make bids for the 25-year-old Englishman. However, Sunderland, who have lost their experienced marksman Jermain Defoe to the Premier League club Bournemouth this summer, have been looking the favourites to bring in Hugill for the next season as a replacement for the veteran striker.
