Ben Gibson has been one of the best defenders in the last season and shone in the backline for Middlesbrough throughout the season. However, his efforts were not able to save the season for his team as they were relegated from the top tier in the last term.
The 24-year-old player has been in good form and has been nothing less than a rock in the defence for Middlesbrough. However, lack of support in the back line made it difficult for him to take the onus of reviving the season for his club, along with the lack of depth in the strike force that caused Middlesbrough to get relegated from the top flight.
The English defender has not yet moved out of the club, but there is a chance that he might head back into the Premier League with one of the top clubs in the summer transfer market. The player has been tracked by a number of clubs from the Premier League as well as the Championship and all of them are looking forward to getting him into the squad to strengthen it for the next term.
Three possible destinations for Gibson in the next season are as follows-
Swansea City-
Swansea City conceded 70 goals in the last season, which was the main reason behind the Welsh club finishing on the 17th position in the Premier League table. They almost went to the brink of relegation from the top tier and are in dire need of a new player who can guard their defence well, so that they can get a big boost in the next term to keep their place intact in the Premier League and it goes without saying that the English defender can fit their bill perfectly.
West Bromwich Albion-
The Baggies have been pretty sound defensively in the last term and have been nearly invincible on their home turf at the Hawthorns. However, they are in search of a good player who can give them more solidity in the backline and Gibson, in the current situation might be a good option for them to be brought into the squad.
Stoke City-
The Potters are also interested in bagging the player for the next term, as they are in dire need of a good defender who can hold their back line and keep the opponent strikers at bay. Reportedly, Middlesbrough have already rejected a bid of £12 million from Stoke City in the summer transfer window and have demanded a higher bid.
