Munir El Haddadi wants a permanent switch from Barcelona this season and a number of Premier League clubs have been monitoring his situation. West Ham United are reportedly plotting a move for the highly rated 21-year-old.
Munir had a flying start to his Barcelona career but failed to carry on the momentum. The youngster has gone very frustrated over his lack of action and wants a permanent solution to this problem.
Upon the arrival of new boss Ernesto Valverde, he might find it hard to find a suitable place in the starting lineup regularly. He was sent on loan to Valencia last season and has been pretty productive for the Spanish side as he racked up seven goals in all competitions for them.
He came through the ranks of the famous La Masia academy and was once touted as the player to eventually succeed Messi at Barcelona.
A player of Moroccan origin, he preferred to don the Spanish jersey when he was called up to the National squad in 2014. But this was his only appearance for the La Roja as he failed to cement his place in the National side.
Italian side AS Roma were pretty much interested in the player but they have withdrawn their interest so it could be a walk in the park for the Hammers. Southampton and Crystal Palace are also vying for the player but Barcelona’s £10m price tag seems to be the apparent glitch in the move.
These clubs are not ready to pay more than £8m for the player and it could be a hindrance in the player’s move. After a slow start in the transfer market, West Ham acted pretty swiftly as they have secured the signings of Joe Hart, Marko Arnautovic and most recently Javier Hernandez.
Slaven Bilic needs to address the attacking department as he endured a very poor last season. Injuries to several players have been problematic for the Hammers and Bilic wants to inject some fresh blood into the squad.
Barcelona recently added Gerard Deulofeu to the side so it pretty much wipes out any chances for Munir. Predominantly a right winger, the Spaniard can be stationed anywhere in the front three and could form a new partnership with Arnautovic.
A number of other clubs have also shown their interest in the player and Bilic needs to act fast if he really wants to land the player at the London Stadium.
