Everton have been doing some serious business in the summer transfer market and have procured seven players in an attempt to revamp their squad for the next season. They have brought in players like Wayne Rooney, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Cuco Martina, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaassen and are hoping to get their eighth signing for the next season.
The Merseyside club, who let go of their prized striker Romelu Lukaku to join Manchester United for the next season, are eyeing a suitable replacement for the Belgian marksman for the next season. Though they have already brought in new players in the form of Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez in order to fill in the void left in their attacking front due to the absence of Lukaku, the Merseyside club are still looking for a top class striker who can spearhead their attack for the next season.
Reportedly, the Toffees coach, Ronald Koeman, is planning to make a bid for the French striker Olivier Giroud, who has been playing for fellow Premier League side Arsenal for the last five years. He has been an integral part of the North London club, however, has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of the Chilean marksman Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium in 2014.
The Frenchman is reportedly not happy at his current club and is looking for a team which can give him the opportunity to play regularly for them. His compatriot Arsene Wenger, who is the head coach of the Gunners, has been reluctant to start with him in the last few seasons on most of the occasions, which might become even more rare with the signing of a new striker in the form Alexandre Lacazette from the French Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer.
The Merseyside club are looking forward to taking advantage of this turmoil in the North London club over the career of the 30-year-old striker and bring in the player for the next season. The signing might look much more imminent as the Everton coach might look to change his attacking approach, thus pairing another striker with new signing Sandro Ramirez in order to provide an extra edge to the forward line for the next season.
Giroud has made 227 appearances so far for his club Arsenal and has scored 98 times for them. The player has two more years left on his contract, but the Gunners might let him leave in search of a new club in the summer.
