Everton have been looking unstoppable in their pursuit to revamp the squad for the next season, having procured seven new players from the summer transfer market. The Toffees, however, are not looking to end their spending spree and are eyeing a number of new players, whom they want to bring into the squad for the next season.
One such player, who might become the eighth signing of the summer for the Merseyside club, is the 28-year-old goalkeeper from the Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse, Eloy Room. The player has been regarded as one of the eye-catchers in Dutch football and can be seen as the new shot stopper for the Premier League side.
Everton might lose their third choice goalkeeper Joel Robles to the Spanish La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna in the summer and they are looking to bring in someone as a replacement for the Spaniard for the next season. Everton already have Maarten Stekelenburg at their disposal, who is set to be the second choice custodian in the next term after the arrival of the English youngster Jordan Pickford from Sunderland in the summer transfer window after his club was relegated from the top tier in the last term.
The Curacao international has been one of the players who is held in the highest regard in his current team because of his dedication to his club, which he has been a part of since the age of 13. He has been playing for the senior side since 2008 and has a contract running until the end of the next term. The 28-year-old has played 155 matches so far for his club and was made the first choice goalkeeper just a few years ago.
Room is known for his ball handling capability as well as his cool head beneath the crossbar which helps to marshal the team well. His strong mentality and brilliant flexibility have made it possible for his team to get out of a number of difficult situations throughout his career. Everton would definitely look forward to making full use of his capabilities and hope that his signing turns out to be a good one for the club in the future.
His current club, Vitesse have also confirmed the fact that the player might be heading out to break his long time bond with the club in search of a better opportunity. Reportedly, the player has denied penning a new contract with them after the current one ends after the next term.
