Birmingham City are looking forward to a good season in the Championship, with an opportunity to make it into the top flight after they last played in the Premier League in the 2010/11 season. The Blues are also looking to bring in a number of new faces into their team for the new season, helping them to make it into the Championship playoffs for the next term.
Reportedly, Birmingham City are poised to sign the Zambian player Gabriel Kunda Jr from the Spanish outfit Villareal after a disappointing season that saw the 24-year-old not making a single appearance for the club in the last term. The central midfielder has been one of the players who has been eyed by fellow Championship club Aston Villa as well, competing with the Blues to bag him for the next term.
It is imperative for the Blues to bring in a player, who can give them attacking options to break the resistance from the opposition and make them come out on top. However, it might take some time for Gabriel Kunda Jr to adjust to the diligent ways of Championship football in England, as he has got no prior experience of playing in England.
The Zambian youngster has played so far only in Spain and has got the experience of playing for teams like Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Villareal. However, at Villareal, he was not given any opportunity to make it onto the pitch for a single time throughout the season and has evidently been disappointed enough to consider a move out of the Estadio de la Ceramica in the summer transfer window.
The versatile midfielder, who can also operate on the right-hand side along with playing a very important role in the central midfield, can add variety to the line-up for Birmingham City, and can play a very important role in the middle of the pitch by providing pin point passes into the attacking third to set up his teammates to score goals. His ball controlling capacities can also come handy for his side, along with his ability to hold onto the ball for a significant amount of time during the match.
Birmingham City is also aware of the fact that the 24-year-old is known for his physical presence on the pitch, which might be an added advantage for a player in his position, especially in English football. The Championship can be quite demanding physically and Gabriel Kunda Jr can fit the bill for the Blues perfectly.
