Barcelona has had one of the most disappointing seasons by their terms in a while in their last outing in both Spanish La Liga and Champions League. The Catalan giants lost their title to a resurgent Real Madrid side, while they were not able to make it past the quarter final stage in the Champions League, getting beaten by the Italian Serie A champions Juventus.
The Blaugrana have got themselves a new coach in the form of Ernesto Valverde, who has come in to replace the former man in charge, Luis Enrique. The former manager of the fellow Spanish outlet Atletico Bilbao, Valverde, is known to be one of the wiliest coaches in the Spanish La Liga and is looking forward to bring back his team to winning ways by bringing in players who have performed exceptionally well for their clubs in the last term.
It is not that the Spaniard is eyeing players from other Spanish outfits, but has got a number of players from other leagues from all around Europe on his radar, whom he wants to be included in the line-up of the Catalan club for making the next season a successful one. One such player, who is right on the top of his target list is the English midfielder, Dele Alli.
The 21-year-old has become a sensation all over the world after his immaculate display of pace and prowess that he showed over the last two seasons for his club Tottenham in the English Premier League as well as for his national team. Alli scored 18 goals in the last term for the Spurs in 37 outings in the Premier League and also registered nine assists.
The English youngster made his way into the top flight club from Milton Keynes Dons in 2015 and started to show his mettle at the highest level instantly. Tottenham’s current manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who has a knack of nurturing young talents and turning them into superstars, has been working very hard to sharpen the skills of this 21-year-old attacking midfielder and the results are definitely showing on the pitch.
Barcelona, reportedly, are eyeing the Englishman and are looking forward to making a bid to bag him for the summer. With players like Paco Alcacer, Arda Turan and Denis Suarez not being able to show the kind of quality that can make them viable replacements for the likes of Messi and Neymar should the occasion arise, it might be possible for Barcelona to bring in the midfield sensation from Tottenham to add to their firepower in the next term.
