Leicester City were nowhere close to their performance of the title winning season las time, which saw them win the Premier League for the first time. Apart from being the surprise package for the season, the Foxes also gifted the Premier League players like Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kanté, who were the most influential in their win of the coveted trophy.
However, the following season saw the downfall of the Champions, as the Foxes lost a number of matches and ended up finishing 12th position in the league table. This summer, they are once again looking to bring back their glory days and are looking forward to bringing in quite a few players and revamp their side for the upcoming season.
The former Premier League champions are already showing their intention of fielding a strong team for the next term and have brought in two of the top class players for their defence and midfield in the form of English defender Harry Maguire and Spanish enforcer Vicente Iborra from Sevilla. The Foxes, however, are not looking to stop there and are poised to make a move for Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Icelandic international has been one of the best-attacking midfielders in the Premier League and played a very important role in the Swansea line-up by saving them from relegation last season. He has been nothing less than a talisman for the Swans, and Paul Clement, the current man in charge at Liberty Stadium, will be distraught if they him in the summer transfer window.
His stellar performance for the Welsh club, which saw him score nine goals for his team last season, has attracted a number of Premier League clubs to get his signature for the upcoming season, including the likes of Everton and Tottenham. The player himself is also uncertain about his future with the Swans and has not boarded the flight to America for their pre-season tour.
However, the Foxes have made a bid of £30 million to bring in the player from Swansea in the summer, which has reportedly been rejected by Swansea City. As per sources, the club have slapped a price tag of £50 million on their prised possession.
Sigurdsson, if he makes a move to the King Power Stadium, is going to be a great addition to the roster of the Foxes, pairing up with Mahrez and Vardy to increase their firepower next term.
