Arsenal are looking forward to turning around their fortune in the next season and lay their hands on the Premier League trophy in the next term. With their fans waiting for a triumph for their team at one of the most coveted leagues in the world, the Gunners are looking to come out all guns blazing in the next season and bring home the desired piece of silverware.
The North London club have been doing good business in the transfer market and has already brought in two of the top players in Europe in the form of left wing back Sead Kolasinac from the German Bundesliga club Schalke and French striker Alexandre Lacazette from the French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon. The Gunners are, however, not looking to stop at this and are trying their best to bring in more good players, who can make a difference for them in the next season via their performances.
One such player is the Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk, who has been on the target list of almost all the big names clubs in the Premier League this summer. The Dutchman has created ripples throughout the Premier League clubs with his gallant show in the heart of the defence for the South Coast club and has attracted interests from Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, with Arsenal, recently joining the league of potential suitors for the 26-year-old defender.
However, the Saints are well aware of the imperativeness of their prized possession and are looking to not let go of him in the forthcoming season. He has made 68 appearances for the South Coast club and has been the mainstay in their defence over the last couple of seasons since he joined the club from the Scottish Champions Celtic in 2015.
Reportedly, Liverpool made a move to bring him in for the next term, by allegedly trying to tap up the player without the recognition of his club. Southampton were evidently quite agitated with the issue and lodged an official complaint with the English Football Association regarding this. Liverpool later apologised publicly for the incident.
Arsenal have been in contention with their defence in the last season, it is one of their main reasons to finish out of the top four for the first time since 1998. Van Dijk, undoubtedly, can be a good addition to their roster, pairing with Koscielny in the centre of the defence, with the bid made being £45 million from the side of the Gunners.
