Now that Kyle Walker, the right back of Tottenham Hotspur has made a move to join Manchester City for the next season, it is looking quite sure that the Argentine manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who is in charge of the Spurs, will be starting with the Englishman Kieran Trippier, whom he has used ahead of Walker, late last season as well.
However, the Argentine mastermind is looking to bring in someone who might be used as a back-up for Trippier, and he is reportedly eyeing the Porto right back Ricardo Pereira as his first choice to fill in the void left by the departure of back Kyle Walker.
The Portuguese youngster was one of the players to look out for in the last term, as he was playing for the French Ligue 1 club Nice on a two-year long loan from Porto.
The Spurs manager is always known for his benevolent tutelage of the young players, whom he nurtures and turns into future superstars. He has a number of young players in his ranks, who have been performing exceedingly well over the last few seasons, to make his team one of the superpowers in the Premier League.
Pereira, on the other hand, has played a superb role as a full back in the Nice lineup, acting as one of the major factors for the French club to end their season within touching distance of making it to the top of the league table. However, they ended up at a well appreciated third spot finish, with Pereira playing a pivotal role in the backline, safeguarding it from opposition attacks throughout the campaign.
The 23-year-old, apart from making a solid impression as a full back, has also been impressive in initiating attacks on the opposition goal via his vicious runs on the right flank. During his two year long loan spell at the French Ligue 1 club Nice, he was involved in assisting his teammates on eight occasions to score goals and keep his team in an advantage. He also scored two goals himself.
Now that his loan spell has ended, the player is back with the Portuguese outfit Porto, attracting offers from a number of clubs from all over Europe. However, with the Premier League club Tottenham having profound interest in him, it is being reported that the Portuguese club might let him go for £22 million to join the North London club in the summer transfer market. But is Pereria the right man for the Spurs?
