Tottenham Hotspur are planning to bring Suso to the Premier league once again. The North Londoners are ready to spend as much as £19m for the AC Milan winger.
Suso had a brief account of the Premier League before when was at Anfield when Brendan Rodgers was at the helm. But luck was not on his side as the Spanish player failed to consolidate a permanent position in Rodgers’ setup.
He came through the ranks of Liverpool but lack of chances proved to be a hindrance in his development. After much speculation, he was eventually sold to the Italian giants in 2015 for a paltry sum of £1.3m.
But things have changed since his move to the San Siro. A rapid transformation in his playing style saw him taking a huge climb in terms of his form as he went on to register seven goals in the last campaign.
Tottenham did bring Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United as a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s rejig plan but the signing of the French international proved to be a blunder as he was barely seen on the pitch.
There is no confirmation regarding Erik Lamela’s injury time frame so Pochettino doesn’t want to take a risk in the upcoming season. They were very close to lifting their first Premier League title but lost the race to an eventually superior Chelsea who displayed scary consistency and amazing grit and focus.
Tottenham are yet to get involved heavily in the transfer market. They have only sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City and apart from that, no business has been done so far.
The Sky Blues have splashed a whopping £45m plus add-ons for the English right back so there won’t be a shortage of fund as Pochettino could use this money to rope in the Spanish attacker.
Suso has earlier expressed his satisfaction with his current situation at the club and he might prefer to stay as Vincenzo Montella is likely to include him in his strategy next season. Added to that, AC Milan are currently undergoing through a transition phase as they have been on a spending spree. So the idea of parting ways with Suso might not go well with the Italian giants.
Either way, one thing certain is that Mauricio Pochettino will be extremely cautious in the market this time and is likely to add a couple of players at most with a replacement for Walker one of them and probably an attacker to cover for Harry Kane.
