Sunderland are on the verge of starting a new season in the Championship after they were relegated from the top tier in the last term. The Black Cats are determined to make a move back into the Premier League and are looking to build a strong enough team that will be able to take on the very best in the Championship in the next term.
The Wearside club have already lost two of their best players in the form of young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has been picked by Everton to stand between the sticks for the next season and Jermain Defoe, the veteran striker, who has joined another Premier League side Bournemouth to leave Sunderland looking for new options to fill the place of a quality striker in their team.
Sunderland, however, have reportedly found the right alternative for the England striker in the form of Bury FC forward James Vaughan and have brought him in for the next season. Their new manager, Simon Grayson, is quite hopeful that the Englishman will be able to play a pivotal role in the side and will take the onus to make his side a prime contender in the race to win the Championship for the new season.
The 29-year-old striker has good pace to accompany with his dribbling skills and is quite a reliable source to get goals for the Black Cats in the forthcoming season. His long range shots are equally dangerous as are his close range finishes. He is known to score goals from both set piece situations as well as open play and can be a good addition to the strike force of the Sunderland team for the next term.
Simon Grayson is no stranger to the abilities of the England international, as Vaughan has already played under his tutelage while he was a part of the Huddersfield Town team in the 2012/13 season. Grayson knows the strengths as well as the weaknesses of the 29-year-old forward and can use him to good effect to get goals for his team. He is a fine tactician and has good experience in the Championship, having managed a number of sides over the last few seasons, and Sunderland can use it to full effect in the new season to achieve the glory of winning the Championship.
Reportedly, the English striker has been roped in on a two-year deal and for a speculated sum of £900000 as his transfer fee.
