Middlesbrough have been looking to make a good start to life in the Championship for the next season, after their much disappointing season in the top tier in the last term, which saw them get relegated after just one season, this one being their comeback in the top flight.
Boro have got themselves a new manager in the form of Garry Monk, who was the former coach of the fellow Championship club Leeds United and has a good reputation as a creative and wily tactician. The former Swansea manager has already started to show his intention of taking his current club back into the top-flight by doing something remarkable in the Championship next term.
However, they are at a loss of good defensive options, which has been a major reason for their downfall in the last season. The club is now desperate to bring in some good players who can safeguard their goal and have the reputation of playing well for their current clubs in the last few seasons.
One such player is Steven Moreira, who is currently playing for the French outfit Lorient and has been one of the players who has a good record as a defender in the French Ligue 1. The ex-Leeds boss Garry Monk is quite interested in bringing in the player and has him on his radar for the next season.
The 22-year-old French player has been very agile in the field and has made heads turn with his defensive skills in the last season. However, it was not enough to save his team from relegation, as they went out of Ligue 1 and will play their next season in Ligue 2. He might be interested in making a move to the Championship, which might be good for his career in the coming years.
Middlesbrough have already bagged some fine players this summer in the form of Cyrus Christie and Jonny Howson to bolster their options for the next term. They have also brought in young striker Britt Assombalonga from Nottingham Forest as a replacement for their Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo, who scored 10 goals last season in the Premier League for Boro.
Middlesbrough might make a bid for £3 million for the young right back from the now French Ligue 2 side to bring him in for the next season. The 22-year-old is capable of making darting runs into the attacking third and deliver good crosses for his teammates to provide them with goal-scoring options.
