Wilfried Bony is no more a wanted man at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola has some other plans regarding the Ivorian’s future. The arrival of Gabriel Jesus has ousted him from first team action and the centre-forward was shipped on loan to Stoke City.
But his failure to perform and lack of chances at the BET365 Stadium saw the ex-Swansea player manage just two goals throughout the duration of the last season. The 28-year-old arrived at the Etihad Stadium amidst much fanfare but he has never been able to show that never say die attitude.
Bony still has that hunger for goals in him but the lack of confidence has been a huge source of frustration for him. Pep is not a huge fan of him and with the likes of Jesus and Sergio Aguero already at his disposal, the Ivorian could be let off the books if a suitable offer arrives.
Here are three potential destinations for the 28-year-old.
Swansea City
A reunion at Wales. Bony earned a big-money move to City following his stupendous performance for Swansea City. The 28-year-old literally lit up the Premier League with his goal scoring exploits and a return to the Liberty Stadium would be an apt ending to his on and off footballing career.
Borja Baston’s miserable journey in the Premier League came to an end as the Spanish forward has joined Malaga on a season-long loan. Fernando Llorente’s prolific goal scoring streak saved the team from the blushes of relegation last season but the player has been heavily linked with Chelsea.
Bony has that potential in him and he is a proven goal scorer, so Clement should consider him in this current scenario.
Stoke City
Despite his unsuccessful stint at the BET365 Stadium, there are enough possibilities for him to be one of the most deadly goal poachers in the Premier League.
Saido Berahino is yet to establish himself at the BET365 Stadium after his controversial move from West Bromwich Albion. But the arrival of Bony could help him flourish in the Premier League so Mark Hughes needs to consider a move for the 28-year-old.
West Bromwich Albion
There has been much speculation over Salomon Rondon’s future who has been issued an ultimatum by the club. Rondon’s departure could pave the way for Bony’s move. The Ivorian international has a much better goal scoring rate than the Venezuelan international and needs a proper platform to showcase his attributes.
