Manchester City have been on the lookout for a solid right back, as they had to toil hard to find someone able enough to play in the position in the last season as well. It has been a problematic situation for Pep Guardiola, the current man in charge at the Etihad Stadium, who had a season far from satisfactory in his very first term in the Premier League, and is on the lookout to make the next season a good one given the high standard the Citizens have set for themselves over the past few seasons.
Manchester City are looking forward to bring in some of the best players in Europe in the current situation, based on their performances for their respective clubs in the last few years. They have already managed to bring in two of the most impactful players of the last season in the form of Bernardo Silva from the French Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco and Ederson from Portuguese Primeira Liga champions Benfica, and are now looking for options to strengthen their defence in the next term.
Reportedly, the former Premier League champions were poised to bring in Dani Alves, the Brazilian full back from Italian champions Juventus on a free transfer this summer. However, the veteran defender was hijacked by the former French Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain, who are also looking to strengthen their team for the next season, having lost out to AS Monaco last season.
As a result, Manchester City have now shifted their attention towards the English right-back Kyle Walker, who has been playing for their Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the last few seasons. The player has been one of the best in the business when it comes to defending and he has been nothing less than a livewire on the field. His darting runs down the right flank have been dangerous enough for the opposition and Guardiola looks much interested in bringing him in for the next season.
Despite his good performances for the Spurs, he has been out of favour under the current coach Mauricio Pochettino, with his compatriot Kieron Trippier starting in his place. This has reportedly infuriated the Englishman, who is looking for a move out of the club and Manchester City are keeping a keen eye on the situation for quite some time now.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed a £50 million transfer fee for the 27-year-old right back and the deal is supposed to be announced soon if reports are indeed true.
