Burnley have made a good signing for the next season in the form of Jack Cork, the defensive midfielder who can be the pinnacle of a strong performance by the Clarets in the next season. They have been looking forward to bring in a few players from other Premier League clubs and have succeeded in landing the Swansea City captain, who was right on the top of their target list for quite some time now.
The 28-year-old has been one of the players who has been playing a pivotal role in the midfield for the last few seasons in the Swansea line-up, which he joined from Southampton in 2015. He has been one of the influential figures in the squad and was instrumental in saving the season for the Swans in the last term.
The Englishman has previous experience of playing with the Clarets in the seasons of 2010 and 2011 when he was sent on loan from Chelsea to play for the then Championship club, and he performed well for them in the midfield over the two seasons. The enforcer made a permanent move to Southampton in the very next season and made a good contribution there as well and appeared in 152 matches for the Saints, before making a move to Liberty Stadium, where he has been playing a pivotal role in the midfield alongside Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Burnley coach Sean Dyche has been much impressed with the strong mentality and leadership quality of the Swansea captain and is looking forward to building his side around the vastly experienced Englishman in the next term. The transfer deal is worth £8 million and might move up to £10 million with add-ons.
Jack Cork is known for his strong presence in the midfield and has the ability to marshal the midfield as well as the backline for his side. He can hold on to the ball for a significant amount of time and can clear the danger from the attacking third. He also has the ability to thread pinpoint passes for his teammates, enabling them to score goals and keep the team in advantage.
With the inclusion of the 28-year-old in the midfield, Burnley can look forward to playing well in the upcoming Premier League season. In the last term, the aforementioned area has been one of the main areas of headache for Sean Dyche, and the Clarets manager will be more than happy that he has someone like Cork at his disposal, who can be a real inspiration for the whole team and help it to end in the top half of the Premier League table.
