Manchester City have made a strong start in the summer transfer market by bringing in some of the best players in the current context to become a part of their side in the next season. While they have got the influential midfielder Bernardo Silva from French Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco to sort out their problems in the midfield.

They are now on the lookout for someone who can hold the fort against relentless attacks of the opponents and might have got themselves a viable option in the form of the Spanish centre-back Inigo Martinez.
Manchester City have experienced great jolts in the last season in their defence, with Vincent Kompany succumbing to injuries quite frequently and the other centre-back, Nicolas Otamendi, looking inconsistent while guarding the backline for them. As a result, the Citizens are looking for a player who will have a towering presence in their defence for the next season, and they might be on the way to signing Martinez from his current club Real Sociedad.
As per sources, the 26-year-old defender has a price tag of £27 million on himself, slapped by his current club. However, the Premier League outfit is ready to bring in the player at any cost and are reportedly ready to pay the required amount to trigger the release clause for the Spanish centre back.
The young defender is one of the players who has played throughout his entire career for the same club, that is, Real Sociedad and has 223 appearances for the Spanish outfit so far under his belt. The 26-year-old made his way through the B-side, playing 31 matches for them before being promoted to the senior side and has been an integral part of the team ever since.
The long-term bond, though, might be broken in the next season, with a number of European clubs hot on the trail for the established defender.
