If reports are to be believed, Nacer Chadli was not with the contingent of West Bromwich Albion that flew to Austria for a pre-season tour. Chadli had a heated exchange with boss Tony Pulis and the gaffer decided to leave him out of the squad.
Chadli joined from Tottenham Hotspur for a club record fee last season and went on to be a part of a very successful campaign. The winger racked up five goals and was supposed to be one of the most vital cogs in Pulis’ strategy for the next season.
But according to reports, the reason of the row was a mere fitness strategy. The Belgian winger refused to follow Pulis’ rigorous fitness regime. The gaffer has planned to put the team through a tough fitness routine which includes 5 am starts and jogging in the Austrian mountains.
Chadli has been given a fitness chart back home to keep his shape perfect and if things go in the right direction, he might soon join the squad in Hong Kong.
With his future plunged into doubt, let us take a look at 3 clubs which might be interested in signing him in case he decides to make an exit.
Tottenham Hotspur
Currently, there are a plethora of attackers at the disposal of Mauricio Pochettino but a return to his former club might appeal to the player and bolster Spurs’ bench as they go in search of the league title.
Chadli mainly gained his popularity for his excellent display with the Spurs and he might opt to complete some unfinished business if given an opportunity. He might force a move to North London from where he started his journey in the Premier League.
Stoke City
Stoke could be an ideal destination for the Belgian international. After the recent feud between him and Pulis, it is very unlikely that normalcy will resume anytime soon. So in a bid to revive his career, he has to choose a move and BET365 Stadium could be the perfect stage.
After the disastrous last season, there would be pressure on Mark Hughes and he will embrace the opportunity to welcome Chadli at Stoke. The Belgian winger boasts of attractive qualities and the Potters badly need some quality signings to shrug off the difficulties of the last season.
Swansea City
Paul Clement’s arrival helped the Swans to stay afloat in the Premier League but they do need some adequate depth in the side to hit back in the next season. The left wing has been one of the most problematic areas for Clement.
Jefferson Montero has had an injury ravaged season while Wayne Routledge has been pretty inconsistent. So, the idea of bringing Chadli could prove to be quite effective for the Wales side.
