Everton have started their summer transfer window business with a bang, scalping five top class players in a big spending spree for a complete revamping of the side for the next season.
The Toffees have already brought in midfielder Davy Klaassen from Ajax, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from Sunderland, centre-back Michael Keane from Burnley, striker Sandro Ramirez from Spanish La Liga side Malaga and winger Josh Bowler from Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
They have also signed Nigerian teenage sensation Henry Onyekuru from Eupen and have sent him on loan to play for Belgian side Anderlecht for the next season.
However, the Merseyside club is not looking to stop at this and is looking to continue their spending spree in the summer transfer market in an attempt to bring in more top class players to strengthen the team for the next season and present a serious challenge to the big name clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and defending champions Chelsea in the race to become the champions of England in the forthcoming term.
Reportedly, the Toffees are eyeing the defensive midfielder Andreas Samaris from Benfica as their next target for the summer transfer window, who is currently playing for the Portuguese outfit Benfica.
The 28-year-old is one of the mainstays in stabilising the midfield for the Eagles and has played a pivotal role in bringing glory to the club in the last term, as Benfica were crowned the Portuguese Primeira Liga champions.
Samaris has been playing for the Portuguese club for the last three years and has established himself as an integral part of the line-up for Benfica in the domestic competitions as well as the European campaigns.
The Greek international is known for his ability to keep significant possession of the ball and can deliver pinpoint passes to his teammates whenever it is required. With an experience of 110 games under his belt for the Eagles, Samaris is reckoned to be one of the best enforcers in modern day European football and can be a very important addition to the roster for the Merseyside club this summer.
As per sources, the Toffees have already submitted a bid of £14 million for bagging the midfielder from Benfica, but the Portuguese side have rejected it, as they have set the price of their prized possession at £17 million for any potential suitor coming their way.
Newcastle United, who have made a comeback into the Premier League, are also reportedly looking to bid for the experienced Greek midfielder in the summer.
