Manchester United are readying a big move to sign Colombian James Rodriguez from Real Madrid. Still fresh from the Alvaro Morata saga, United are confident that the Spanish striker’s supposed move will not affect the current deal.
Zinedine Zidane has made it pretty clear to James that he is not in his plans and the Colombian playmaker has been told to look for a new club. Jose Mourinho is very keen to add some creative elements to the side and James is the perfect match for United.
With Wayne Rooney set to rejoin his boyhood club Everton, there will be vacant places to fill. Rooney has gone frustrated over his lack of game time and with the World Cup looming large, he thinks that a move to the Merseyside club might prove to be a better option than playing second fiddle at the Old Trafford.
Mourinho is looking for a suitable player to replace the veteran forward and thinks that James would be the ideal replacement for him. United have strengthened their front line as they have reportedly agreed to terms with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
United had suffered heavily as they lacked a provider in the final third who would be able to feed quality balls to the strikers. James is blessed with the unique quality of vision and passing.
He is more suited in the no. 10 role but can also be deployed on the flanks. His addition will give Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan additional freedom to play their natural game.
Madrid are contemplating a bid for AS Monaco wonder kid Kylian Mbappe. Los Blancos is planning to phase out Morata and Rodriguez to make some room for the French teenager.
Madrid are expecting to recoup as much as €70 m for the latter but United are not expected to go that high. Mourinho has a strict instruction for his each target and he is ready to spend less than Real’s asking price.
Rodriguez has been linked with United for a number of times in the past but this time United are handling the details of the deal pretty minutely. The deal for Morata will inspire them to do well in the transfer market and if they manage to complete a move for James it will be a win-win situation for them.
Looking at the current scenario, United are well and truly into the thick of things and the pressure will be right back on their Top 4 rivals.
