Southampton are looking to make a strong impression in the forthcoming season in the Premier League and improve their position in the League table from their 8th position finish in the last term. The Saints are in possession of a number of good players but are looking to bring in quite a few who can be able to make things work in a smoother way for them and give them an advantage in the next season.
The South Coast club is keen to bring in the Celtic ace Stuart Armstrong from the current Scottish Premiership Champions Celtic, as they are looking for players to stabilise the midfield for the next season. The Scottish international has been quite a handful for his club in the last few seasons and has attracted interest from a number of clubs in Europe.
Armstrong has played 103 games and has scored 23 goals so far in his career with the Scottish outfit. He has been a firm favourite of the fans at the Celtic Park and is known for his assisting skills as well, helping his teammates to score on 19 occasions throughout his career for his present club.
Celtic are not looking to let go of their prized possession in the summer, and if it happens, the Saints will have to cough up a minimum amount of £10 million to bring Armstrong into the South Coast club in the summer. Besides, the Hoops, if they do, are going to let go of the midfielder only after the Champions League qualifiers are over, which means that the Premier League outfit are going to wait a little bit more if they are going to get their hands on the desired player.
Southampton has a history of raiding the Scottish champions in search of players as well. In the recent past, they have made deals with the Hoops to bring in the Dutch defensive beast Virgil Van Dijk in 2015, which has been one of the biggest transfer deals in the history of the club in terms of its impact, as the player has been rated as one of the best centre-backs and has been tracked by a number of big name clubs from the Premier League.
Apart from that, midfielder Victor Wanyama has been another player to have been brought into the club from the Scottish champions in the year 2013, who played well for the South Coast club before moving to Tottenham Hotspur.
