West Ham United might make a move for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud. The French striker hasn’t had many chances in the last season as Alexis Sanchez has been shifted to a more central position.
Giroud had extended his stay at the Emirates by one year but played a bit-part role last season. He will be very keen for more regular game time as the French forward is aiming for a place in the France national team for the World Cup next year.
Giroud has been limited to only 11 starts but despite his limited game time he has managed to score 12 times and a number of them were after he came off the bench. Giroud salvaged a point against Manchester United as he came off the bench to seal a point for the North Londoners.
Alexandre Lacazette is set to move to the Emirates as Arsenal are finalising the minute details of his contract. Arsene Wenger is an avid admirer of the player and has been trying to bring the player for quite a while. With Lacazette’s arrival, Giroud will no longer be the preferred choice and he might weigh his options.
Bilic has suffered some serious problems regarding his striking options last season as the likes of Diafra Sakho, Andy Carroll had their injury concerns which has forced Bilic to keep his eyes open for a new striker.
Giroud wants to make his stand clear as he wants regular first-team football and Arsene Wenger is poised to have a chat with the player over his future. Giroud is currently the first choice striker for Didier Deschamps and wants to hold onto his place keeping in mind the World Cup next year.
Bilic is so desperate that he is ready to meet Arsenal’s asking price which is in the range of £20m and is ready to fulfil Giroud’s wage demands. The Hammers would be able to offer him a place in the starting lineup which might attract him.
Lyon are also planning to make a move or him as they are preparing for life without their star man Lacazette who is Arsenal bound. The French club has enquired about Giroud’s availability and should Arsenal decide to listen to offers, they are ready to hijack a move for the French striker.
West Ham should go all out in the pursuit of this 30-year-old as bringing him to the London Stadium would further strenghten their chances in the next season.
