Arsenal are looking forward to a major revamp in their line-up for the next season, the one which will see them play in the Europa League for the first time since 1996 as they failed to finish in the top four in the last term. The Gunners are looking to make the next term a successful one and are looking to bring in quite a few players, while they also might have to let go of some of their players from the current squad.
One such player, who has been a part of the North London club for the last six years, but has not been able to be in the first team on a regular basis, is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The England international has been one of the players who has been looking for a fixed place in the squad for quite a long time, and now is eyeing a move away from the Emirates in the next season.
Reportedly, the 23-year-old has been pursued by Arsenal’s arch rivals Liverpool for the next season and might be quite excited to join them for the next term. However, it is quite unlikely that the North London club might let go of the talented winger in the next season and is looking to offer him a new improved contract, tying him down for a longer period of time.
As per sources, the English player, who prefers to play as a central midfielder, is contract-bound to stay back at the Emirates for one more season and has made up his mind to leave as a free agent after the next season is over, with the aim to join some other club in the Premier League, who can ensure him a place in the starting eleven on priority basis.
Reportedly, the attacking midfielder, who has been used as a right wing back in the closing stages of last season by Arsene Wenger in his new 3-4-3 team combination, is looking to make his way to Anfield.
Liverpool have been on the trail of the 23-year old for quite some time now and have also submitted a bid for bagging him in the summer. However, the bid was rejected by the North London club, who are not willing to let go of “Ox”, the nickname of Chamberlain among his fans for his robust and hard-working playing style.
The England international is also in contention for a place in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup, so it is important for him to play regularly for a club.
