AC Milan are in the process of restructuring their side and their Chinese investors have already invested a lot of money in the club, by bringing the likes of Andre Silva and Fabio Borini.
However, to maintain the current shape of the side, the Italian outfit needs to offload some of their players and if reports are to be believed, Carlos Bacca is one of the players they are considering to release this summer.
A number of clubs have been in the line to rope in the forward, but Everton are believed to be the frontrunners. With Europa League in the offing, Ronald Koeman is set to have a very engaging summer transfer window.
The Dutch manager has already brought Jordan Pickford from Sunderland and Davy Klaassen from Ajax and a set of players could follow them to the Goodison Park this summer.
Alongside a number of arrivals, a number of departures might happen in upcoming days at the Merseyside. Ross Barkley is yet to pledge his future to the club while Everton are certainly losing Romelu Lukaku in this summer.
Bacca has had a very prolific career in terms of goals but he has been a late bloomer. The 30-year-old forward hogged the limelight during his stay with Sevilla where he lifted two Europa League titles before moving to Milan.
His preference is still a return to his former club Sevilla, but the Spanish club is yet to submit a formal offer. The striker who will turn 31 in September bears a price tag of €20 m and Everton are now ready to meet the valuation.
Koeman might have a second thought regarding his price but keeping in mind his form, it would be a very decent addition for them. The Latin American is a very determined and tireless forward and knows the art of scoring very well. He may not be the most skilful player but can guarantee a bagful of goals.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also enquired about the player’s availability. With Alexis Sanchez’s future hanging by a thread, the French gaffer is very keen to bring another forward and is delighted with Bacca’s performance.
Bacca’s work rate is very encouraging and he rarely gets injured. He has managed to reach double figures in each of the last three seasons and if he arrives at the Goodison Park, Koeman doesn’t need to worry about goals anymore. However, his age could be a worrying concern but given his performance in the Europa League, he surely has a defining role to play.
