Marco Verratti, the Italian midfielder has been very strongly linked with Barcelona for the next season and is almost certain to make a move from his current club Paris St Germain in the summer to join the Catalan giants. He is being eyed as a potential replacement for the Spanish midfield maestro of Barcelona Andreas Iniesta and is going to cost Barca a hefty amount.
Verratti is currently on holidays and might be making a move back to his current club on the 4th of July. If he does so, it is going to be an uphill battle for the Catalan club to secure his signature, as he already has a number of years of service left at the French Ligue 1 club. They will also have to cope with the release clause that he has on him, which is going drain out a lot of money for Ernesto Valverde’s side to capture the signature of the Italian international for the next season.
However, the story might be a bit different in case the player does not appear for the pre-season training camp of Paris Saint-Germain, implying that he has been successful in forcing his way out of the French Ligue 1 club for the next season and he will not worry about the huge fine that will be slammed on him by his current club.
Reportedly, the player has already told his club that he wants a release from Paris St Germain in the summer. Now it is to be seen how the club handles the whole scenario and whether they impose a fine on the player for the termination of his current contract that runs till 2021.
Verratti has been one of the most influential midfielders in the current scenario and has been Barcelona’s number 1 target in the summer transfer market. The Spanish outfit had a forgettable season, as they lost their Spanish Premier League title to arch-rivals, Real Madrid. They were also not able to make it past the quarter final stages, failing to score even a single goal against their opponents Juventus last season.
This season though, with the probable incoming of Verratti to the team, there is a possibility of a turnaround for the former Spanish La Liga champions, with a constant supply of quality passes for the strikers in the attacking unit that they lacked in the last term. Their line-up in the next season can look something like this-
Ter Stegen, Roberto, Pique, Umtiti, Alba, Busquets, Verratti, Iniesta, Messi, Neymar, Suarez.
