John Terry has ended his glorious career with Chelsea, having left the West London club at the end of the last season, which saw them win the Premier League title for the sixth time in their history. However, the ex-England captain is not looking to end his career as of yet and might be seen in action in the next season in either the Premier League or Championship.
A number of clubs have been looking to secure the services of the veteran defender, who has been nothing less than a rock in the Chelsea defence for so many seasons. However, in the last few seasons, the ex-England international had to take a backseat and was mostly seen playing as a substitute or back-up in the Chelsea line-up, which might have been the prime cause to initiate his decision to leave Stamford Bridge and end his career somewhere else.
Reportedly, clubs like Bournemouth, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City are looking to bag Terry for the next season, with a view to infuse some much-needed experience into their side as well. However, Championship clubs are also not far behind and have been looking to bring in the inspirational ex-captain of Chelsea to be a part of their line-up in the next season.
Terry is currently out of contract, so he will be available on a free transfer for the next season. As per sources, Aston Villa have offered the English defender a one-year deal with a salary structure of £60000 per week along with a bonus of £2 million if they can head back into the Premier League in the next season.
If that does not sound tempting enough for the ex-Chelsea centre back, Steve Bruce, the man in charge has also assured him of taking up his job after he retires from the post of manager at Villa Park. It has been no secret that Terry has been inclined to take up a job in coaching a big name club in the future. However, he is well aware of the fact that he has to start from a smaller club and Aston Villa can perfectly fit the bill to become his first club as a manager.
Villa’s Championship rivals, Birmingham City, are also looking to bring in the inspirational central defender to their club with a similar offer, which involves the taking up of the managerial job at the end of his tenure as a player. Now it is to be seen what the Chelsea legend decides when his contract expires in days.
