Gylfi Sigurdsson has been one of the most inspirational players for his current club Swansea City and has been the centre of interest for a number of big name clubs who are looking to bag him for the next season. The Icelandic midfielder has been in good form of late and has been one of the biggest factors for Swansea City to end their last Premier League campaign on the safe side of the relegation zone.
A number of Premier League clubs, who are in dire need of reinforcements to be brought into their side in the next season, are looking to land the player with a significant offer that he can’t resist. However, his current club Swansea City are having other plans and are looking not to entertain any of the bidders, some with offers as big as that of Everton, who have reportedly offered them £30 million to hand over their prized possession in the forthcoming summer transfer window.
The Swans have made it very clear that they will not be entertaining any offers under £40 million to let go of their midfield maestro Sigurdsson. As per sources, Tottenham Hotspur are also in contention to make a bid for the Iceland international, but currently are just monitoring the situation.
Sigurdsson has starred in the season for his club Swansea City and is known to have played a very crucial role in their line-up to save the season for them. He has been a pivotal character in the squad for the Welsh club and has been named the second best assist maker in the Premier League last term. He has also been known for his ability to score from set piece situations and hence has been considered as one of the finest deal ball specialists in the Premier League.
Some experts are of the opinion that the American owners of Swansea City have enough funds of their own to make their prized possession stay put at his current club and have slapped such a big price tag on him in order to fend off interests from any other club, however big the offer is.
Leicester City, meanwhile, are in dire need of an inspirational midfielder amidst rumours linking their Algerian playmaker, Riyad Mahrez as the one who might leave the club to join Arsenal in the next season. Mahrez was crowned the PFA Best Player of the Year award after his dazzling performance in the season which saw the Foxes lift the Premier League trophy for the first time.
