Huddersfield Town have been the newest entrant into the Premier League for the next season, having won the Championship Playoffs by beating fellow finalists Reading on penalties by a narrow margin of 4-3. This will be their first entry into the Premier League in a long time, which is 45 years since they last played in the year 1972.
The Terriers are well aware of the fact that they will have to face some of the biggest clubs in one of the most intriguing leagues in all over Europe, which demands a lot of commitment and dedication from every team and from every player. As a result, they have been eyeing a number of players who can be able to give them a head start in the new season and have already landed their first player this summer in the form of Laurent Depoitre from Portuguese Primeira Liga.
Reportedly, the striker, who has been playing for the club FC Porto, has joined the newly promoted Premier League side on a club record deal of £3.5 million. The 28-year-old has been out of favour at the Portuguese outfit and only started in 10 matches throughout the last season. Hopefully, things will take a different turn for the Belgian forward as he has been lauded by Huddersfield coach David Wagner as a proper striker upon his arrival at the Kirklees Stadium.
Depoitre has been known for his physically imposing style and is also considered to make the defenders work to mark him from getting into the attacking third from time to time. He is equipped with a good long range shot that can find the back of the net from outside the box, and he is also very good from set piece situations as well as open play.
He is also known to be a very good team player and a good passer, distributing the ball to set up his teammates to take advantage of the defensive lapses and score goals.
Wagner has been much appreciative of the striker and has said that the striker is a team man on the pitch and off it as well. He has got good experience of playing in top flight football that Huddersfield can bring into use to get themselves in an advantageous position, and count on their odds to make it big in the Premier League in the forthcoming season.
