Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make a good start to the new season, and build on the success of the last term, which saw them finish in the second position on the League table right after the Premier League champions Chelsea. The Spurs are also looking to make a good impression in the Champions League for the next season, and are in search of players who can make their side even stronger in the next season.
The player who has been attracting the eyes of the current man in charge of the Spurs Mauricio Pochettino is the dynamic midfielder from French Ligue 1 side Nice Jean-Michael Seri. The central midfielder has been one of the most highly regarded players from the last term and has played a pivotal role in making his club finish in the third position on the league table in the French Ligue 1.
Reportedly, Tottenham have burst into the scene to claim the Ivory Coast international from the French club, despite the fact that their arch rivals Arsenal also have a profound interest in the attacker to bag him for the next season. The Gunners might be short on firepower in the next season, with two of their most prolific scorers, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez looking to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, having denied putting their signature on a new contract to stay at the North London club beyond 2018.
Spurs have reportedly made a bid of £22 million in order to bag the player for the next season, only to see it get rejected by the French Ligue 1 club. They have made it clear that any offer under £37 million will not be entertained by them to let go of their prized possession in the summer transfer market.
It is being speculated that Italian side AS Roma are also interested in the Nice midfielder, and have already made him their No.1 transfer target for the next season. Besides them, the Spanish giants Barcelona are also on the trail of the Ivory Coast international to add to their roster this summer.
The 25-year-old has been an integral part of the Nice line-up since his arrival at the club in 2015 and has already played 72 games for the French Ligue 1 side. He has scored 10 goals for his side and also laid off 15 assists for his teammates, creating opportunities for them to score goals as well.
Tottenham, however, hold the upper hand over Arsenal to bag the player, as they are able to offer him Champions League football in the next season.
