Hull City are plotting a bid for Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham. The youngster hogged the limelight with his goal scoring antics in the last season in the English second tier and the Tigers want to bring him to the Championship next season. They have appointed Leonid Slutsky as their manager recently and the manager has sanctioned the move.
Hull had a pretty stuttering last season as, despite the last-gasp attempt by former manager Marco Silva, the Tigers got demoted from the Premier League. Slutsky would like to make some signings to strengthen the squad. Hull recently sold their most prolific defender Harry Maguire to Leicester City so there won’t be a shortage of funds.
Chelsea have the knack to sign players and send them on loan. In this system, players have been unable to showcase their talent on a consistent basis but Abraham is an exception. The 19-year-old has netted 23 goals in his first professional season for Bristol City. The youngster has attracted a number of clubs but he hasn’t made a decision yet.
The player is currently in Poland with the England U-21 squad and would sit with the club hierarchy to discuss his future. An imminent emergence to the starting lineup is not possible at the moment as Antonio Conte already has a handful of youngsters at his disposal.
The Blues wouldn’t mind letting him free on a loan move but are expected to hold onto him for a few more seasons. The West London club are preferring a move to Hull as he would be under the tutelage of a man having a special connection with men in the important positions at Chelsea. Also, Slutsky is a friend of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich so the latter would consider this matter as a token of good gesture.
Newcastle had hoped to land the player as talks were in an advanced stage but they failed in their planning. Rafa Benitez has been planning to bolster his attacking ranks and Abraham could have been a decent addition.
Hull had struggled throughout the last season with striker issues but Slutsky doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes. The Gaffer is well acquainted with the competition in the Championship and is ready to start the promotional battle for the Tigers.
Abraham has ample experience of Championship having played for Bristol City last season and would be eager once again to prove himself. He has excellent pace and technical ability and on his day he can create havoc in the opposition ranks.
