Rangers have reportedly agreed a contract with Celtic for the 18-year-old keeper Aidan McAdams. The Scottish side continued their spending spree as they have already made a host of signings. The exact amount of the fee is yet to be known but if reports are to be believed, the Bhoys are ready to pocket more than £150,000 for the transfer.
The 18-year-old is touted to be the next big prospect in Scottish football. He has started his career with Celtic after coming through the ranks of the Hoops but hasn’t been able to make the breakthrough into the first team. The 18-year-old has represented almost all levels at Celtic.
Rangers will undergo a huge change as Pedro Caixinha has been pretty busy accumulating players from across the globe. He has been given sufficient funds to ensure a fluent campaign this term after the underwhelming last season. The Gers finished in the third position and have managed to grab a place in the Europa League.
McAdams is Scotland U-17’s preferred choice in between the sticks. A number of English clubs were interested but Rangers have won the race. Caixinha is unlikely to introduce him to the first time as the young keeper needs more time to adjust himself to the pace and condition of the Scottish Premiership.
McAdams will be imbibed into the academy and will continue to play for the reserve side. A lifelong Celtic fan, it could be a bit difficult for him to adjust to the new surroundings but at Celtic, his progress was hampered due to insufficient game time. But he would be hoping to get enough opportunities under the tutelage of Caixinha who is pretty famous for working with the newbies.
Caixinha would be adamant to hit some positive notes in his second season with the Gers. He was appointed in the midseason after Mark Warburton resigned from the post of the manager. Given it was his first stint in the Scottish first tier, he has done a pretty commendable job by guiding the team to a third place finish.
The eternal rivalry between Celtic and Rangers is very famous across the world. But in terms of results, it was pretty one sided last season as the Bhoys humiliated the Gers every time the two sides met. But Rangers will a completely different side with all the new signings and Caixinha would be hoping to change the equation next season.
