Swansea City are plotting a shock move for Emmanuel Adebayor. The striker has been in blistering form for Istanbul Basaksehir in the Turkish League. The Wales club is likely to use Bafetimbi Gomis as bait in the deal to sweeten the move.
The Togo international was a pretty renowned name when he was in the Premier League. He caught the attention of Wenger during his stint at Monaco. The French gaffer brought him to the Emirates which proved to be one of the best decisions being made by the Gaffer. The 33-year-old went on to have a gala time in the Premier League as he netted 62 times for the North London club.
After departing from Crystal Palace in 2016, he had been searching a club and landed at Istanbul Basaksehir who then signed him on a two-year deal. In a relatively new league, Adebayor went on to stamp his authority as he scored six times for them inspiring them to a second place finish this season.
On the other hand, Gomis was sent to Marseille on loan and the French powerhouse created a flurry of goals for the French side. The striker added 21 goals more to his tally as he completed his loan move very successfully.
The Wales side have reportedly made an offer of £1.75million including Gomis but the Turkish club haven’t responded yet. Adebayor recently claimed that his sole mistake in his career was his move to Crystal Palace. But the player still holds an interest in returning back to the Premier League and Swansea could be an option.
The Swans displayed some superb display of football in the last session as they successfully held on to their Premier League status. The appointment of Clement and some late surge of form worked wonders for them.
But Clement has been over-reliant on Llorente for goals and the 32-year-old responded efficiently by notching up 15 goals in the English top tier. But the gaffer has been searching for a potential goal scorer who could share the responsibility alongside the Spaniard stalwart.
Adebayor is happy in Istanbul and has a lengthy contract to spend the next two years of his career there. He endured a difficult campaign at the Selhurst Park as he struggled to find the net. He scored just once in his entire Palace campaign.
A Llorente-Adebayor pairing would be very tempting to see as it will give the Premier League a whole new dimension in the next season.
