West Ham United are determinedly chasing Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony. The Ivorian international has been struggling since his move to Manchester City and the Sky Blues sent the player on loan to Stoke City in an attempt to improve his game but the player has endured a tough time with the Potters.
The Hammers have struggled in front of the goals despite having one of the most dangerous striking forces in the Premier League. But the likes of Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho have hardly played for the East Londoners as they mostly spent their time on the sidelines with a series of injuries.
Bilic doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes of the last season and therefore he has been in the transfer market for a while in the search of a goal poacher.
West Ham have been heavily reliant on Michail Antonio who has emerged as the surprise package this season. The England international has been utilised heavily by Bilic in almost every position. But to ensure a fair display in the next season, Bilic should hire another prolific forward to ease the pressure on other players.
City had bought Bony for £28m but are ready to let him leave for as cheap as £15m. The striker is renowned among the Premier League clubs for his blistering display during his stay at the Liberty Stadium.
It was his form for Swansea City that earned him a move to Etihad Stadium. But he has mostly struggled to get going in his new club and after the arrival of Pep Guardiola, he is certain to leave.
The Spanish gaffer will be looking to offload some of the players he doesn’t want and Bony is one of them. The 28-year-old is eyeing a move to another Premier League club to prove that he is still not finished.
Swansea have also been linked with him. Swansea have had their problems in front of the goal and Bony could be a solution to Paul Clement’s problem. The gaffer has done wonders but has been looking for a suitable partner for Fernando Llorente.
West Ham are very keen to add significant numbers of attackers and have also pondered the option to weigh up a move for Michy Batshuayi and Daniel Sturridge.
However, a move for Bony makes sense as the Ivorian would offer a more precise threat than Carroll and would be more reliable than the lanky striker.
