Rangers are closing in on a move to land Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans. Pedro Caixinha has been on a signing spree as he has already secured moves for a number of players with Daniel Candeias being the latest arrival at the Ibrox.
Caixinha is ready to shrug off the disappointment of the last season where they failed to grab hold of a single silverware. The Scottish side had an initial approach of £750,000 rejected by the Canaries but Caixinha is not ready to fall behind. He is reportedly readying an offer in the region of £1.2m for the player and is very confident of sealing a deal in the near future.
A boyhood Rangers fan, Dorrans would be happy to join the Scottish side which he has been supporting from his childhood. He even started his footballing career in Scotland with Livingstone. He also had a brief stint with West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League.
The Canaries fell short in the last season as they couldn’t make it to the Championship playoffs. They would certainly be looking forward to living up to the expectation of the fans but might have to do it without the services of the player in question.
Middlesborough are also weighing up a move for the central midfielder. Boro were miserable on their return to the top tier and duly got demoted. The Teessiders are yet to appoint a manager but have started to find reinforcements for the new season.
The Canaries are not in a good financial situation and might offload some players to balance the books. Caixinha privately has convinced the player to join him at Ibrox and he could play a pivotal role in the next season.
The Portuguese gaffer has had a hand in all the transfers and has been tracking the player for quite a while. Dorrans seems very keen for a transfer and the move might happen in the upcoming days. Sheffield Wednesday have also been linked with a move for the midfielder but Caixinha wants to seal the deal as soon as possible and be prepared for pre-season.
The Portuguese gaffer rates him very highly and if he does come to the Ibrox which is looking imminent he would be a vital part of the side. The Scotland international’s performance for the Canaries has been very sharp although he had a number of injuries during this stint with them.
