Pep Guardiola has been pro-active this summer as he is looking to complete deals for some of his top transfer targets even before the start of the transfer window. He is looking for some exciting player to add to his attack and one name that is constantly doing the rounds around Etihad is Arsenal star, Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean has established himself as one of the best players in the league since his move to the Emirates from Barcelona a couple of years ago. He was one of the most productive players in front of goal in the previous season, not just in England but also in Europe.
However, the lack of progress at his current club has seen him reject a mammoth contract which might see him quit the club this summer. Bayern Munich and PSG are interested along with English giants Manchester City and Chelsea but any team that wants to price Sanchez away will have to pay well in excess of €50m.
Pep Guardiola is reportedly ready to offer him a financially astounding contract to land him at the Etihad but is he really a necessity for the club?
The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane are expected to hog the flanks next season while Sergio Aguero should stay the lead striker. Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva will also play in this role while Bernardo Silva is the newest addition to these names. Nolito is one player who is unable to get into the first team at all.
City already have a star-studded attack and are required to concentrate on improving their defence if they are to win the title. Guardiola will want the best possible players in his lineup but adding numbers, even of the highest order, to his ranks is not going to help him blow teams away like he could in Germany and Spain.
The Premier League is a different piece of cake that Guardiola has just got his first taste of. It is sweet but only for a while but it does pose its challenges that need a different approach to counter. As much as he would hate it, Guardiola might have to change his methods to take City to the top of the league.
Sanchez can help in it, but not unless Pep decides to sell one of the stars in attack, which seems unlikely. The Chilean is better off finding another club, where he can be as important as he was to Arsenal. At the moment, Sanchez to City is a rumour that does not make sense to any of the parties involved.
