Chelsea won the Premier League title recently, and are undoubtedly very happy with their achievements. The Blues, however, have been far from complacent with their success and have already started their pursuit to bring in players for the next season, which is going to be tough to say the least.
With the exciting prospect of Champions League football next season, it is going to be a campaign that will see the West London club go head to head with some of the biggest clubs from all over Europe. This has prompted Conte to try and improve the squad and he is already looking to get the right players to strengthen his side for the next season.
One of the players who has been right on the top of the wish list for the current Premier League champions is the influential French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is currently playing for the French Ligue 1 champions Monaco.
The central midfielder has been one of the best players recently for his club, helping them to the French league title and a great show in the Champions League as well, where they reached the semi-final before getting beaten by the Italian champions Juventus.
The 22 year old has been linked with a move to a number of big name clubs including the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City, but it seems that the French star is all set to join Chelsea in the next season. Antonio Conte, the present Chelsea boss, has been monitoring the mercurial midfielder for a long time, and is now prepared to bag him with a big offer in the summer.
Reportedly, Chelsea have been negotiating terms with Monaco over his £43 million release clause, deemed too hefty by the Blues management. However, a breakthrough has been reached between the two sides, which will see the midfield sensation head to Stamford Bridge this summer at a speculated transfer fee of £35 milion.
Bakayoko, if he comes into the side, will be paired with the PFA Player of the Year award winner and his national compatriot N’Golo Kante in the Chelsea midfield. This comes as an indication that the Blues are willing to let go off their Serbian midfield enforcer Nemanja Matic, who has been attracting interest from Manchester United for quite a long time. The Blues might also let go off their young striker Mitchy Batshuyi to Monaco as a part of the deal.
