According to various reports, Arsenal are very close to sealing a move for the CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin. The Gunners are ready to splash £10m on the player as a move to strengthen their side for the upcoming season.
The Gunners started the transfer window very convincingly as they completed the signing of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke on a free transfer. However, it will not be the only signing for the Gunners as Arsene Wenger is planning to sign some big guns to give a push for the next season. The French gaffer was under much pressure after the Gunners failed to clinch a place in the top four for the first time in two decades. But he managed to save his job after guiding his side to a record 13th FA Cup.
He needs to rectify a number of areas and midfield is one of them. Santi Cazorla’s injury had been a disaster for them as Wenger failed to fill his void. Granit Xhaka did show some flashes of brilliance but he has been very inconsistent. Xhaka managed to come up with some excellent displays in the final stages of the campaign. Wenger also has a Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin but they are yet to stamp an authority on the side.
Golovin’s agent agent Oleg Artemov made an indication about a possible move which intensified the speculation. CSKA Moscow finished second in the Russian Premier league and would be very reluctant to let go one of their main players as Champions League is looming ahead . But the North Londoners are considering their options to send the player on a season long loan as soon as they sign him to provide the service of the player for the European campaign.
Chelsea had also been linked with the midfielder as Antonio Conte has been searching players to bolster his midfield. But with Chelsea almost on the verge of sealing a move for Bakayoko, Wenger might be able to grab the player.
The Russian international has featured 12 times for his native country and will play a pivotal role in the next World Cup. Golovin made his first appearance for the Russian side in 2015 but has started playing regularly in this season. Predominantly a central midfielder, he can be also deployed on the left side of the pitch.
Only 21 years of age, Golovin has a very bright future ahead of him and it seems Arsenal have found a gem of a player.
