Manchester United have reportedly made a renewed effort to sign Andrea Belotti from Torino. The Red Devils have been linked with the Italian striker for quite a while and Jose Mourinho is very adamant to improve his strikeforce for the upcoming season.
The Red Devils are very close to securing a deal for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata. The Spanish striker has reportedly agreed on terms with the English outfit and is on the verge of a transfer to the club.
Belotti reportedly has a £88m release clause in his contract but United are confident they can pull off the deal for a much lower amount. The Italian striker is on the radar of a number of clubs as the forward has emerged as a number one target. Belotti has netted 28 goals in this season in all competition.
The 23-year-old is touted to be the next big thing in European football. United recently released Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Swede injured his ligament and won’t be able to play for a long period. United stepped up the interest in Belotti as Mourinho wants to bolster his attacking section.
Torino have a very strong stand on Belotti as the player has a contract till 2021. Mourinho wants to seal the deal as soon as possible as he wants to chalk his plan for the next season.
Torino is not ready to sell him as they are holding out for a fee of 88m. Belotti could be a one season wonder but Mourinho is ready to take the gamble. United already have a number of attacking options at his disposal with the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford but the Portuguese gaffer wants to utilise a proper no.9 for the next season.
United have past success with Torino as they had brought Matteo Darmian from the Serie-A side and Belotti could soon follow the suit. United have been negotiating a deal for Belotti and are ready to rope him despite almost securing a deal for Morata.
Scoring goals has been a problem for United. Despite having a prolific striker in Wayne Rooney, the Portuguese gaffer had to rely on Zlatan which is not a good sign. Belotti would be a typical Mourinho signing and his versatility makes him all the more special.
Mourinho is trying to form a formidable striking line up to match with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich and if Belotti comes he will partially succeed in his target.
