West Bromwich Albion have been linked with Sassuolo striker Diego Falcinelli. Tony Pulis has been in the search of a prolific goal scorer and has turned his attentions to this Italian forward.
West Bromwich Albion have struggled for goals this season and both the strikers, Salomon Rondon and Hal Robson-Kanu had their fair share of chances but couldn’t impress Pulis who is searching for alternative options.
The Baggies were defensively superb as they maintained their defensive line very precisely but when it comes to creating chances and scoring goals, the other teams have a pretty decent record in comparison to them.
Some wasteful results in the season run-in saw them finishing in the 10th position. Pulis needs to address his goal-scoring issues and Falcinelli could be a solution to this problem. The Inter Milan academy product was at Crotone this term on loan from Sassuolo and has found the net 13 times for the Italian side. Pulis reportedly had his scouts present in one of the games when Juventus blanked Crotone 3-0 in the Serie-A and based on the feedbacks he has stepped up his interest in the player.
Torino are reportedly considering an option to bring him to Turin. The Italian side have the fear that they might lose their prized asset, Andrea Belotti, as he has been linked with a number of clubs already. Should he choose to move, they are planning to bring Falcinelli to Turin as his replacement. The striker is well acquainted with the pros and cons of the Italian League and wouldn’t cost much.
West Brom will not have a shortage of funds as Pulis was supposed to have a chat with the owners as he went to China reportedly to discuss the budget of the transfer window. The Baggies will be looking to give it another shot to finish in the top seven of the Premier League and for that, they need adequate reinforcements.
Everton are also assessing their options for the striker. They are set to receive a huge sum for Romelu Lukaku who is certainly joining Chelsea and the Toffees could use the money to fund Falcinelli’s move. The Italian is bearing a price tag of £9m which shouldn’t be a problem for either club.
There could be a three-way bidding war as Falcinelli would be one of the cheapest option available in the transfer market right now. Pulis has to act first otherwise he will lose his destined target.
