Manchester United are ready to beef up their bid to £60m in an attempt to firm up their interest in Alvaro Morata. Jose Mourinho has been searching for new players to build his squad for the next season.
Madrid rejected a bid of £52m for the Spaniard forward as they want to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu. Mourinho is adamant to add a potential goal scorer after United failed to use their attackers properly in the recently concluded season. Morata is yet to take a decision and he seemed to have bid goodbye to the Santiago Bernabeu at the time of La Liga winning celebrations.
Madrid were trying to persuade David De Gea after they failed to take the player to Madrid since the famous fax machine rescued United back in 2015. Madrid revived their interest this season and have enquired about De Gea’s availability but Mourinho made it sure he would prefer a swap deal with Morata switching his allegiance to the English side.
But this deal fell through as Madrid have reportedly withdrawn their interest in the Spaniard and have hinted that Keylor Navas would be the preferred choice in the next season.
Mourinho wants to bring the player who made his debut under him. The Portuguese gave the first chance to the youngster back in 2010 and as a token of respect, he might opt for a move to the Old Trafford. He has a unique scoring rate for the Madrid-based team and will give Mourinho that necessary firing power upfront which they have been lacking in the recently concluded season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had been the main hit man for the Red Devils but despite scoring goals, the Swede international has missed a galore of chances in this season which Mourinho must have noticed.
If he comes, Morata would be the first choice striker at the Old Trafford. Madrid triggered a release clause in his contract last year to buy him back from Juventus. Morata has an excellent strike rate of goals as he rescued Madrid a number of times after coming on from the bench. Despite making a limited number of appearances, the 24-year-old has scored 15 goals in La Liga this season which speaks volumes.
Mourinho might opt for a two man front line so he might decide to pair Marcus Rashford alongside Morata. Mourinho will be plotting a number of changes next season and Morata might be the highlight of the side.
