Douglas Costa’s time at the Allianz Arena might be over as the Brazilian is considering a way out of Bayern Munich. Costa mostly played second fiddle to Frank Ribery in the latter half of this season and the player thinks it is the right time to accept a new challenge.
Bayern splashed a hefty €30 m in the summer of 2015 when the German giants signed him from Shakhtar Donetsk. Costa showed his class in his inaugural season as he went on to score seven times for the Bavarians alongside digging up 18 assists in all competitions.
Costa has been a consistent performer since his time from Shakhtar and his move to Bayern was a step up for him. Under Pep Guardiola he had been deployed in a number of positions and impressed in every position. But despite making a stupendous start in his new club, this term his playing time has been radically decreased because of various injuries and some excellent displays by Frank Ribery.
However, if Costa decides to leave there will be no dearth of suitors.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp is planning to shake up his current side and has been seeking new reinforcements. The Reds will be entering the Champions League next season and for a long-running tournament like this, Klopp needs adequate players to fill in at various positions. He can reunite Costa with his fellow Brazilian Internationals Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.
Despite having limited resources, Liverpool managed to get a place in the top four but to stay in the Champions League he needs quality and Costa is an apt answer for it.
The winger can be slotted in either wing and also has perfected his role as an attacking midfielder. He is a tireless runner who possesses a serious threat to the opposition defenders with his darting runs and skills.
Barcelona
The Catalan club will be looking to add some new prospects to the team and Douglas Costa can certainly be the one. Costa can do the job which Neymar is currently doing at the Camp Nou. The Brazilian has been at the peak of his form but he has had his inconsistencies. Costa can add some competition to the side and would be a very good backup option if Neymar gets injured.
Manchester United
Right now there are no conventional wingers at the Old Trafford outfit. Both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have had their chances but their real strength comes when they are stationed more centrally. Costa can add a different edge to the team. His marauding runs through the flanks and ability to cross the ball with acute precision would be a huge asset for Jose Mourinho.
