West Bromwich Albion have lost one of their star players to Stoke City, their captain Darren Fletcher, who will be joining the Potters from 1st July on the completion of his term with the Baggies. It has been nothing less than a blow for West Brom, as they look for an immediate replacement to ensure that there is no damage done to their line-up due to the loss of their captain courageous.
The ex-Manchester United midfielder joined the Baggies in 2015 and had become an integral part of the West Brom line-up in no time. Though it will be a really tough challenge for the Baggies to find an immediate replacement for the Scotland international, they have already started their venture to find someone who can replace the veteran and stabilise the midfield in the next season.
Reportedly, Tony Pulis, the man in charge at the Hawthorns, is eyeing the inclusion of the young midfielder from Manchester City, Fabian Delph. He has been one of the brightest youngsters in the English ranks and has been largely undermined owing to the presence of players like David Silva, Yaya Toure and Kevin De Bruyne in the City squad that has compelled him to be left on the bench for most of his time at the Manchester club.
However, a move to the Hawthorns might give him a much awaited first team experience, which is ardently required by the 27-year-old to bolster his confidence.
Delph only made 12 appearances for the Citizens this season, out of which only on 4 occasions he started for them. He scored one goal to show for his efforts in this, but it was too little too less to ensure a place for him in the starting XI. Now, with the arrival of the Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer at the Etihad Stadium, chances are going to get even more scarce for the England international and thus he is looking to make a switch to another club where he can get regular starts under his belt.
The Baggies should also be quite happy to get the services of such a talented midfielder and are reportedly looking forward to making it possible to rope in the youngster from Manchester City this summer.
The box-to-box playing capability of the England midfielder is one of the major reasons behind the Baggies persuading him, as it will help them to fill the void left by Fletcher. He is a very energetic player and can make darting runs into the box at times and chip in with goals for his side.
