Time and again Everton have faltered as they come very close to grab a spot in the top four but inconsistency and some unlucky results paved the way for some other teams every other season. Even this year the Toffees finished outside the top four despite a stellar second half of the season.
Despite missing the Champions League spot, they do have a very good chance to compete in the Europa League as they have qualified for the qualifying round of the Europe’s second most prestigious competition.
The arrival of Ronald Koeman did show some positivity as the Dutch man led from the front to give the Toffees what they have been missing for these years. Koeman’s vision for the club is highly admirable as he dug up his limited resources to find out the best possible results for the Merseyside club.
With the likes of Tom Davies, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley performing brilliantly, Koeman will have his chances in the next season but he needs to do certain things to maintain the balance of the team.
Give A New Contract To Lukaku
If Lukaku’s goals hadn’t been there, Everton would have been hovering around somewhere in the lower half of the table. The Belgian forward has scored 24 goals for the Toffees which saw him missing the Golden Boot just by a whisker to Harry Kane. The 24-year-old has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
Lukaku has been holding off contract negotiations but the club hierarchy have to fend off the interests in an order to back Koeman’s project for the next season. Billionaire Farhad Moshiri, who happens to be a controlling stake owner of the club, has the money to spend and Lukaku has to be offered a lucrative contract that he can’t refuse.
Find An Alternative For Ross Barkley If He Leaves
The Everton midfielder has been attracting interests from a number of clubs with Tottenham Hotspur emerging as one of his possible destinations. Mauricio Pochettino wants to work with the youngster as he is an avid admirer of the player. If he does depart, Koeman has to make sure his plan for the upcoming season won’t get hampered and for that, he needs to find a suitable replacement for him.
Everton has expressed their interest for Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson. He would be an excellent choice in place of Barkley and Everton do have that money bring him to Goodison Park
Invest More Money To Bring World Class Talents
Farhad Moshiri’s money can certainly do the talking when it comes to pay the wage bill of the current side but to compete with the big money spenders Moshiri has to match his vision with his resources. Bringing good talented players will also help the existing players to make believe they are at the right club.
