West Ham United have been through one of their most unsatisfactory seasons in the recent times, which has seen them finish in 11th position on the League table this term. The Hammers are trying to make amends for the lost chances in the last season and are looking to bring in players who can help them make an impact in the Premier League from the very beginning of the next season.
Slaven Bilic, the coach of West Ham United, who has been given the charge despite a dismal season in the recently concluded season, is looking to bring in players from all over Europe to strengthen his squad for next term. One such player who has been eyed by the Croatian mastermind is the Algerian striker Islam Slimani, currently playing for the former champions of the Premier League, Leicester City.
Slimani was brought into the squad by the Foxes to add more firepower during the last summer transfer window and to spearhead the attack along with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. However, the 28-year-old striker has not been handed many starts for his liking during the season, in which he failed to impress.
Reportedly, the player is looking to head out of the King Power Stadium this summer and might make a move back to his former club Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese Primeira Liga for the next season. However, he has been closely pursued by Premier League clubs like West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion, who are in dire need of increasing their firepower for the next season to back themselves for a winning start.
Though it is unclear whether the Foxes will let go of their Algerian striker or not, one whom they brought for £29 million from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, the Hammers are showing huge interest to bag the player for the next season.
Slaven Bilic is well aware of the fact that he has to make it work this time around for his club in the Premier League after a pretty dismal season the last term, and will definitely want to rope in someone like Slimani to give his squad that cutting edge over the opponents, which has been missing since the departure of their talismanic player Dmitri Payet during the mid-season transfer window.
However, speculations are rife that Sporting Lisbon are also interested in claiming back their former striker into the squad this summer and might also make a bid to interest Slimani’s current possessors Leicester City in doing some business.
