Jose Mourinho reportedly had a chat with Alvaro Morata over a possible move to Manchester United. The Spanish international is very frustrated with his limited game time and has been courting for a move out of the Santiago Bernabeu. United have been searching for a proper forward for long and the Real Madrid player could be the one.
Real Madrid are also keeping a track on the United number one David De Gea. The Spaniard is also keen on a move to the Spanish capital. A deal between the two clubs got punctured after an infamous fax machine faux pas but the Madrid club have shown their intent this season and they are taking every step with extra care.
Morata is on the wish list for a couple of clubs including Chelsea as Antonio Conte has been a long-term admirer of one of his old disciple. Morata had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the Chelsea gaffer when they were at Juventus.
Mourinho needs to boost his attacking options and he could use this opportunity to bring Morata to Old Trafford. According to sources, Madrid have been apparently told that can have De Gea for only as little as £22m but for that Morata has to switch his allegiance to the English side.
The Spanish forward has mostly been used as a substitute as Karim Benzema has been preferred ahead of him. He has had only 14 starts in the La Liga this season and is looking for a club where he can have more game time to boost his chances in the Spanish national team ahead of the World Cup.
United have been linked with a number of forward with the likes of Antoine Griezmann. There are doubts over the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney as the both the players could leave the club. Marcus Rashford could have been one of the alternate options up front but he needs more game time to polish his skills and finishing.
Morata reportedly had a deal agreed with AC Milan as the Italian club continues their spending spree. Lining up Morata in the team would give Mourinho a number of options to ponder over. If Mourinho decides to play with his favourite formation 4-2-3-1 set-up, then Morata would be the certain choice up front ahead of Martial and Rashford. Antoine Griezmann then would operate from slightly behind of Morata more of a false nine. Another option is to unleash Morata in a two forward strategy alongside Griezmann to ease the pressure on other creative players.
