West Bromwich Albion are reportedly planning to make Troy Denney their highest paid star at the club as the Baggies are planning to table a record bid for the striker. Deeney has been the main strike force for the Vicarage Road-based club as he has helped them maintain their status in the Premier League. But West Brom are ready to secure a move for the player.
The Hornets have slapped a price tag of £35m but no club would pay this kind of absurd amount for a forward like Deeney. The Birmingham-born forward has a £25m release clause in his contract but The Baggies are not ready to splash that much. But they are ready to break their bank and want have quote a figure close £20m for the player.
Should Watford accept the bid, it would be a record fee for the Baggies since they paid £13m for Nacer Chadli to Tottenham Hotspur. They are also ready to fulfil his wage demand in the excess of £100,000 a week. Currently, Johny Evans is the highest paid player at the club as he pockets a cool £75,000 a week but the club hierarchy are ready to bring their chequebooks out.
The Baggers do have a prolific goal scoring pair in Hal Robson-Kanu and Salomon Rondon but the pair has shared 11 goals between them which are not very encouraging signs.
Deeney is very famous among the Hornets supporters but for the last few matches, he had been left on the bench as Stefano Okaka had been preferred ahead of him. But the fact that Deeney still has four years on his contract could be a block in his move. Watford would be trying to hold their superstar forward but the lure of playing time under Tony Pulis might tempt him to a move.
Pulis has the cash in his hand and he wants to spend most of the money in his attacking section. He has been tracking the player and thinks this is the right time to pull off a move. W
Walter Mazzarri’s had a row with the player and although the club recently appointed Marco Silva, things have not been sorted out yet. The Baggies earned handsome money by sanctioning the sale of Saido Berahino to Stoke City and might use that money for this transfer. Also, Guochuan Lai is expected to inject sufficient money into the club and Pulis should go all out to attract Deeney to the Hawthorns.
